2. Description of Service

TidBit is a shortform video platform that allows users to share, discover, and engage with educational and insightful content created by the users themselves. Our mission is to provide educational discoveries to people through our open-minded algorithm and thoughtful creators. 

3. Account Registration and Security

3.1 Account Creation

  • You may create an account using Apple Sign-In, Google Sign-In, or email verification with a 6-digit OTP
  • You must provide accurate and complete information during registration
  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials

 

3.2 Account Responsibility

  • You are solely responsible for all activity that occurs under your account
  • You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account
  • You may not transfer your account to another person without our consent

4. User Content and Conduct

4.1 Content Guidelines

Educational Requirement: All video content must be educational or insightful in its primary intent. Content that merely includes educational elements as an afterthought will be removed. Examples of acceptable content include:

 

  • Art, cooking, or music tutorials
  • Life skills demonstrations
  • Educational gaming content with learning objectives
  • Academic explanations and insights
  • How-to guides and instructional content

 

Prohibited Content:

  • Content that is primarily entertainment with minimal educational value
  • Nudity or sexually explicit material
  • Suggestive content, including overly sexualized thumbnails, poses, or language that is inappropriate for our educational platform
  • Drug use or promotion of illegal substances
  • Graphic violence (except in educational gaming contexts)
  • Hate speech or discriminatory content
  • Content depicting actual criminal activity
  • Spam or misleading information
  • Content that violates others' intellectual property rights

4.2 Copyright and Intellectual Property

Your Responsibility:

  • You must own or have proper licenses for all content you upload
  • Using copyrighted music, images, or other materials without permission is prohibited
  • Content containing trademarked elements without authorization may be removed
  • We reserve the right to remove content that may infringe on intellectual property rights

 

Copyright Infringement:

  • We respond to valid copyright infringement notices
  • Repeated copyright violations may result in account termination

Your Content License to TidBit: By posting content, you grant TidBit a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, display, and distribute your content on our platform.

4.3 Community Behavior

Prohibited Conduct:

 

  • Impersonating others or creating fake accounts
  • Harassment, bullying, or threatening behavior
  • Stealing or reposting others' content without permission
  • Attempting to circumvent our content moderation systems
  • Using automated tools to manipulate engagement metrics
  • Spamming or posting repetitive content

5. Content Moderation and Enforcement

5.1 Content Review

  • We review reported content and may remove material that violates these terms
  • Content creators will be notified when their content is removed
  • We reserve the right to remove content at our discretion to maintain platform quality

5.2 Account Enforcement

Warning System: First-time minor violations may result in warnings; Temporary Suspension: Repeated violations may result in temporary account restrictions; Permanent Ban: Severe violations or repeated offenses may result in permanent account termination

  • Severity and nature of the violation
  • User's history of violations
  • Impact on the community
  • Intent and context of the behavior

6. Creator Monetization Program

6.1 Eligibility Requirements

  • Content must comply with all community guidelines
  • Videos must exceed 10,000 views to be eligible for payment
  • Content must be primarily educational or insightful

6.2 Payment Structure

Standard Rate: $0.02 per 10 views for eligible content; Early Creator Program: Selected creators may receive enhanced payout rates; Payment Terms: Rates are subject to change with reasonable notice

6.3 Program Rules

  • Artificial inflation of view counts is prohibited
  • Payment calculations are based on verified, legitimate views
  • We reserve the right to audit and verify view counts
  • Creators must comply with applicable tax obligations

7. TidBit Unlimited Subscription

7.1 Subscription Plans

Monthly Plan: $5.00 per month  Yearly Plan: $50.00 per year  Benefits: Ad-free experience

7.2 Billing and Cancellation

  • Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled
  • Pricing is subject to change with reasonable notice
  • Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period
  • Refunds may be available in accordance with applicable app store policies

7.3 Payment Processing

  • Payments are processed through Stripe
  • We collect billing zip code and country for payment processing
  • Full payment information is securely handled by our payment processor

8. Advertising

8.1 Ad Content Standards

We use Google AdMob to display advertisements with the following restrictions:

  • Maximum content rating set to "Teens"
  • Blocked categories include dating, sexual content, gambling, alcohol, and other inappropriate content
  • Despite our efforts, some inappropriate ads may occasionally appear due to misrepresentation by advertisers

8.2 Ad Personalization

  • Advertisements may be personalized based on general demographics and interests
  • We do not share your personal information with advertisers
  • You can control ad personalization through your device settings

9. Privacy and Data Protection

  • You represent that you have the right to grant this license

11. Disclaimers and Limitations

11.1 Service Availability

  • TidBit is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind
  • We do not guarantee continuous, uninterrupted access to our services
  • We may modify or discontinue features at any time

11.2 Content Disclaimer

  • Educational content is provided by users and we do not verify its accuracy
  • Users are responsible for evaluating the quality and accuracy of educational content
  • TidBit is not responsible for any consequences of following user-generated educational content

11.3 Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, TidBit shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of our services.

12. Dispute Resolution

12.1 Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of South Carolina, United States, without regard to conflict of law provisions.

12.2 Dispute Process

  • If informal resolution fails, disputes may be subject to binding arbitration
  • You may opt out of arbitration within 30 days of account creation

13. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms of Service at any time. Material changes will be communicated through the app or via email. Your continued use of TidBit after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the modified terms.

14. Termination

14.1 Termination by You

You may delete your account at any time through the app settings or by contacting us.

14.2 Termination by TidBit

We may suspend or terminate your account for violations of these terms, illegal activity, or at our discretion with reasonable notice.

14.3 Effect of Termination

Upon termination:

  • Your access to TidBit will cease
  • Your content may be removed from the platform
  • Certain provisions of these terms will survive termination

16. Miscellaneous

Media Access

When you upload videos or images, TidBit only accesses the specific files you select for upload. We do not access your entire photo or media library

How We Use Your Information

Primary Uses

Service Provision:

  • Process payments for TidBit Unlimited subscriptions

  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) Simple Email Service (SES) sends authentication verification emails

  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) S3 securely stores videos, images, and profile pictures
  • AWS CloudFront distributes content globally for optimal performance
  • AWS Lambda functions process video encoding and compression using open-source FFMPEG

 

Database and Authentication:

  • Supabase hosts our database and provides additional authentication services
  • All data is stored securely and subject to strict access controls

 

Advertising:

  • Google AdMob displays advertisements and may collect data for ad serving
  • We do not share personal information with AdMob beyond what's automatically collected through their service

 

Mobile App Infrastructure:

  • Expo provides app development services and dependencies
  • These services may collect technical data necessary for app functionality
